Must have green products: Solar powered cell phone chargers

Using the power of the sun isn’t necessarily a new idea and today there are green products that are able to harness that energy for us whether it be on a grander scale or a smaller one. Well in this instance even in if the particular gadget is pocket sized its worldwide use is in fact enormous; I am of course speaking of our cell phones. When only a few years ago many of us could subsist on a landline alone today that thought is something akin to operating our TVs without a remote. (You mean there are actual buttons on the TV itself to change the channel and volume!?!? Just kidding.) But because we use these cell phones so much those batteries are given quite a beating and are then having to be hooked up to chargers for a refuel quite often.

Standard chargers plug into a socket but these nifty green products take traditional energy methods and throw them out the window; solar powered cell phone chargers will help cut the energy you use not only when the standard plug-in types are actively in use but also any phantom energy that is being sucked out of your outlets should you leave the chargers plugged in even when your cell phone isn’t attached. These solar chargers are becoming more in demand and here a few of them for you to take a gander at and hopefully take advantage of.

For the eco-friendly but also budget conscious you will be relieved to know that you can find one for as little as $50 and the Ice Tech Foldable Solar Charger is a testament to just that. These are small enough so that you won’t be burdened with excessive pocket weight and they work fast enough to give your battery a quick boost. There are also a variety of different adaptors to work for various phone models. If you want to get something even more compact and still gives you all the power you need there is the PowerMonkey eXplorer Solar Charger which will ring in between $100 and $150; this little guy is actually smaller than some cell phones.

For those who have iPhones there is the iPhone Solar Power Sleeve Charging Case which as the name implies simply fits right over your phone and gives it a recharge, even while you talk! If your phone is not of the Apple variety don’t fret because there is the Solio Magnesium Universal Solar Charger which is going to not only work for nearly any phone but also other kinds of portable gadgets. These will run you anywhere between $100 and http://www.flickr.com/photos/scelera/ $200 but what you can save versus having a plug in charger will more than make up for it in the long haul. Still shouldn’t making our world a little greener more important? So all of us looking to reduce our own energy consumption but still chat away can now do so thanks to these fun green products.
